Entry for February 16, 2006
Well Valentines day has come and past. Normally we keep it pretty low key here for valentines day. I think in the past Rich and I have given each other cards, or other years just the hug and kiss and a verbal Happy Valentines Day. He surprised me this year with roses delivered. The only other time he has done that is when we were dating and he sent me roses at Granny's house. He has gotten roses for me when I had Ashley, and possibly Alex, but I can't remember if he did for sure then or not. I think he forgot when Alyssa was born and when Angela was born his work sent a beautiful arrangement so he figured he didn't need to buy some too.
Apparently the days of sending just valentines cards in for the school valentines day party are long gone. I of course was the odd one out and just had the kids take cards. We didn't attach candy or goodie bags, just the valentines. They both came home with backpacks full of candy and the rest of their cookies and cupcakes from their class parties. We definitly had sugar melt-downs that night, but I let them eat it all up and it dissapeared that night so it was gone from the house. :)
Angela is keeping me busy these days. She is constantly on the move and isn't napping very much. She is currently working on about five teeth. One is almost all the way in, another just broke through the surface and there are another three or four that have the "puffy gum" stage where they are under there and causing pressure and irritability, but they haven't poked through the gums yet. Needless to say- we haven't been sleeping very soundly the past week and I'm looking forward to them coming in so we can hopefully sleep a little better.
Angela has also graduated to the cheerios eater stage. She has taken to food a lot slower than my other kids, but I'm happy to say that she is enjoying cheerios and the gerber flavored corn puffs now. She will also eat some babyfood- but not much. I'm just looking forward to her being able to eat that for snacks when I need to leave her with others instead of her just screaming to nurse when I'm gone.
Alex is having some difficult times at school with following the rules and staying out of trouble. Last week was a particularly hard week for him and they had a substitute teacher one day. He wound up getting moved over to one of the other teachers classes for part of the day because he was being so disruptive. He knows the school work and can complete it when we sit down and make him focus on it and do it, but he tends to get distracted so easily and we are working on getting him to be less of a distraction for others as well.
We had to call dad this week to get his advice on a toilet to buy. Why would we need to buy a toilet you ask? Alex wanted to find out how the toilet worked and pulled the lid off of the tank. Then he dropped it and it hit the side of the toilet where it connects to the tank and the whole thing shattered. $200 + later we have a toilet that should get here next week and the kids don't have a toilet in their bathroom right now. Just the week before we were watching a do it yourself show and it was showing a toilet installation. Little did we know we would need that information sooner than later! We told Alex the next time he wants to see how something works, to come and ask us first and we would help him safely look at it.
Well Mommyhood calls. I hope your having a good day. :)
