As we walked into the Magic Kingdom they were just starting the castle show. The kids LOVED it and had a great time watching it.
From there we headed to the ever popular Dumbo, Carousel, and It’s a Small World.
As we were in line to get on It’s a Small World, Angela was so upset. She was crying that she didn’t want to go on the ride and didn’t want to be there.
Once we got on the ride she calmed down and enjoyed it, but it really surprised me that she got so upset. We went and rode Peter Pan, and went on the Haunted Mansion. I had to pull out the sling and wear Angela in that for the line to the Haunted Mansion, but she didn’t complain as long as she was in it. I’m sure I’m forgetting some stuff. We grabbed a small lunch at Peco’s Bill’s Restaurant, then rode Pirates of the Caribbean (where Angela got upset again until we got onto the ride and then she was fine), and the Jungle Cruise. By then Rich was done with his conference and he meet up with us. From there we went to Splash Mountain, and Thunder Mountain Railroad. It was getting late then and we headed off to go back to the hotel and clean up everyone before going to dinner that night.
At the hotel Rich had gotten all our bags out of the car earlier and we had some time for the kids to check out our rooms. We stayed at Coronado Springs, and had two connecting rooms. That meant that Alex and Ashley each got their own bed, and Alyssa and Angela shared a bed. At other hotels Angela gets a little bed made on the floor out of blankets, so she was happy to get to sleep in a big bed. The best thing about paying for two rooms is definitely having two bathrooms! It makes getting everyone ready for bed, or ready to go somewhere a lot faster, and gives everyone some space to spread out when we are in the rooms.
We cleaned the kids up, and then drove over to the Contemporary. We had reservations at Chef Mickey’s. As you check in at the front, they have a photographer set up and they take a photo of your entire group. Ours was quite the scene with 13 of us. They turned out pretty good so we decided to split the cost of a package with our friends. Then we sat and waited to be seated. The two dad’s sat down on this neat circular bench and it was humorous for my friend and I to see all 9 kids just piled all on and around the two of them. I got a few cute pictures of them with all the craziness around them. Since we had such a large party we did have to wait a little while to be seated, but the dinner we had was well worth the wait!
At Chef Mickey’s it is a character dinner. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy come around to every single table and visit with the kids and you can take pictures with them. You pay the cost of the dinner for the characters- not for the food (although the food isn’t bad- it’s good food, but you are willing to pay that price for the characters…) So… we were seated and had three tables in a row. We let the girls all sit at one table, then Rich, Alex, Angela and I were next to them and my friend, her hubbie and three boys sat next to us. It is a buffet so we got up and filled up plates for most of the kids and by the time I came back with Angela and was getting her settled, the music came on announcing the characters. The waiters tell the kids to pull their fabric napkins out and stand up and twirl the napkins in the air as the song is on and the character comes out. The dining areas are set up so there are about 10-15 tables in an area. Goofy was our first character, and our tables were the first tables the characters came to. The kids just LOVED it. We got some great pictures of the kids swinging the napkins in the air and cheering for the characters.
My friends little 3 year old was just absolutely beyond himself with excitement and kept going up to the characters and hugging them over and over and over. The characters would take about 10 minutes in our area and then rotate on to another area. We would have a break of about 5-10 minutes and then another character would come in again. It was so much fun! I was able to get pictures of Ashley with all of the characters, and Alex and Angela with one or two… Alyssa was thrilled to sit back and watch the action, but didn’t want any pictures with the characters. I think the kids had super huge smiles on their faces from the moment the first character appeared, till they realized we were done and it was time to leave. It was a late dinner (9pm) so by the time we got back to the hotel, the kids were exhausted. It had been a great day and bedtime was quick and quiet. I think Angela and Alyssa even fell asleep in the car so we just had to put them in bed and change them into pj’s.
