DisneyWorld Trip- Day 1

Saturday Morning we got up bright and early… we had loaded up the car the night before, so we just needed to change the kids, and toss the overnight bags, and cooler bag in the car and we were ready to go.

We’ve never driven east on a trip, so Rich wanted to see what it was like to drive through Arkansas (well we did drive to Arkansas before), and Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida. We got going and within an hour one of the kids needed to make a bathroom stop. We had actually forgotten to call out the road trip warning before we loaded the kids up of “go to the bathroom before you get in the car, because we aren’t stopping anytime soon”, so we felt that was as much our fault as anything. Once we got back on the road we made pretty good time. The kids had new DS and Game boy games that kept them entertained without any fights for quite a while. I had also gotten a few new DVD’s for Angela and Alyssa that kept them entertained. I was able to sit back and read for quite a while. Rich had also hooked his iphone into the car’s audio system so we were able to listen to a bunch of podcasts that he had accumulated for the drive. We even figured out how to get the BYU Football game that afternoon through the iphone so we could listen to that as we drove.

It was a pretty calm and relaxing drive that first day. The most drama of the day revolved around us getting off of the interstate to drive on some state highway’s, and being stuck in construction traffic, while Alyssa sat there and needed to go to the bathroom really badly… we probably sat in the traffic for a good 20-30 minutes… but that was the most drama we had that day. We got to the hotel that night around 10pm our time, 11pm eastern time. Angela fell asleep in the car and I was able to carry her into the hotel and lay her down without her waking up, and she slept through the night, so that was nice.
