Entry for October 13, 2005
Wow... what a week. Rich left on Friday from work to go to Las Vegas for his yearly convention. He said it was interesting being there- not his first choice of where they have had it, but he found stuff to do. Next year it is going to be at Walt Disney World in Orlando... I may have to think about tagging along on that one. :)
The kids did pretty well this week. Ashley came down with a fever on Friday afternoon so we stayed home Saturday and Sunday. The fever broke on Sunday afternoon so she went to school on Monday and has felt fine. I think her being sick on those days helped me keep the adrenaline going to take care of the kids. Monday I was starting to feel a little bit run down, but we went outside and just played after school and dinner and that helped to curb the irritability factor on both the kids and my attitudes. Tuesday a contractor building a house on our block cut the phone line and we didn't have any phone or cable from 2pm till the next day around noon. I had to go and find a pay phone to call in the outage (since I didn't know they had cut it- I only knew it didn't work) and then pick up the kids from the bus stop and we had Open House at the school. Alex and Ashley were excited to show me and Alyssa and each other all the centers in their classroom and what they do each day. Then we went and picked up McDonalds happy meals for the kids and went home for them to eat those for dinner. I had enrichment night and they had a dinner there so I waited and ate there. Our babysitter (16 years old) came over with her little sister (10) and I left them all at home and went and had a few hours of peace. When I came home the kids weren't in bed and asleep, but they were all ready for bed and had already had their stories so it was nice to be able to give them good night kisses and put them in bed and not have to deal with the entire bedtime routine. Also our babysitter just got her license so I didn't have to drive her home- sooooo nice! Alyssa couldn't find her paci so she wound up crying herself to sleep while I rocked her because she was so tired and distraught about not having her paci. Then I could not sleep at all and wound up staying up till 3:30 am. I usually have a hard time sleeping when Rich is gone, but this week had been able to go to sleep by about 1am most of the time. That night I was more anxious though since I didn't have any phone and had a harder time going to sleep.
Wed morning I did a bit of power cleaning and we had playgroup over here. I had a donation out for Salvation Army to come and pick up and had gone through the kids toys the night before to donate some of the miscellaneous toys that we just didn't need anymore. So they got two large boxes of toys and clothing we won't use anymore and I sent the baby bassinet and our old lawnmower with them as well. Then the phone line was fixed so I got in touch with Rich and filled him in on why he couldn't call us the night before.
Now it's Thursday and Rich will be home just after dinner time... yeah!!!! I think I might fall asleep around 9pm- right after the kids go to bed. I'm pretty tired.
