It's been a while...

I haven't posted on here in a little while.

I got really discouraged after I tried to start running and was in so much pain. I've backed off now and I'm working actively to strengthen some muscle groups that will give me a better posture and running stride and hopefully allow me to run without the pain that I was having.

I've also been taking some time to work through some inner thoughts and concerns I've been dealing with lately. There is peace found in taking the steps we need to take to accomplish a goal and I'm finding some more of that peace lately.

We went down to celebrate Rich's nephew getting baptized this past weekend. We had a fun time visiting with family and friends. I'll bum some pictures off of my father in law when he get's back home and then I'll post a few. We also went to the county fair and the rodeo. It was pretty fun. :)

I had to drop Rich off in Dallas so he could fly out on a buisness trip, on our drive home and drive the last 3 hours by myself with the kids. They did really well and we didn't even have any arguments that lasted more than a few seconds. We even hit some construction traffic so that made our drive an hour longer- but the kids all cooperated really well. I was very pleased with them.

Hopefully they will continue to cooperate for the next week with Rich gone. We'll have the cub scout pack meeting to negotiate on Wed night with me and all of the kids, and then a Relief Society dinner on Thursday night. Saturday night Rich will be back... we'll have to go pick him up at the airport right at bedtime for the kids since he flew out of Dallas and won't have his car parked in Oklahoma to drive home.

ouch

I went and exercised yesterday... I did the elliptical at just a moderate light pace. I ran today...

and I'm hurting...

Rich told me after about two weeks I shouldn't have as much soreness... I hope he's right!! :)

Exercise

So I've been trying to be really diligent about going and exercising. I'm trying to start running and was pointed to a great "program" to help people who are not runners get up and start running and slowly work themselves up to being able to run a 3mile/5k run.

I went M/T/Th/F last week and I've gone to the Y M/T/W of this week. Today my legs are so sore though that I'm really having to test my willpower to go and not to just stay home and take the day off. I did do some elliptical stuff on tuesday that was different than my normal elliptical workout and I think that might have been the cause of my legs being so sore yesterday when I did my "run" (90 seconds running, 90 seconds walking... over and over for 30 minutes). So today I think I'll keep it low impact and just do the elliptical with little resistance so I get the aerobic workout without having the resistance that taxes the leg muscles as much. Then maybe tomorrow with some better stretching I can do my run without getting too much pain in my thighs.

And with that...

**Poof** I'm off to change and go before I talk myself out of going... :)

Monday, Monday...

Monday, monday (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

Can't trust that day (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

Monday, monday (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

It just turns out that way (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

Whoa, monday, monday, wont go away (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

Monday, monday, its here to stay (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

Oh monday, monday (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

Oh monday, monday (ba-da ba-da-da-da)

It's a beautiful day outside... I've got a headache though and monthly ickies so the song above reflects my mood. I didn't let it completely get to me though and I did get up and go to the gym and exercise. :) Now I think I'll have a nice quiet day with the girls until the big kids get home and hopefully talk them all into playing outside so they will be nice and tired tonight and bedtime will go nice and quickly and easy... :)

Lately I've found a new cracker that I am completely addicted to. It's from walmart their line of crackers- the Mozzarella and Sun dried Tomato snack crackers. I have to admit I ate about 1/2 the box this afternoon after I got home from the Y. Alyssa got upset because I finished it off and she wanted some (whoops) I didn't realize she liked them.

I think I'm going to go and find something to make for dessert for FHE tonight. I haven't been replenishing my baking pantry items as I've used them up- in an effort to not bake as many sweets so I'll have to get creative and see what I can figure out.

And that's all for today and my bloggy post about nothing in particular... lol I guess that's why it's a blog though... it's the one place I can just type out stuff and it doesn't really matter if it isn't inspiring or of real importance. :)

Last night we went as a family to the Blue and Gold Banquet for the cub scouts. Alex of course threw a tantrum when we told him he had to wear his cub scout shirt. He just does not like it at all because it's stiff and itchy to him...

Cub scouts is a whole new thing to me. I grew up with five girls and one little brother. By the time he started cub scouts I was up in Young Womens and didn't really pay any attention to what he was doing. Last night Alex got his first patch, and I guess they give out "mother pins" to the mom's when the boys get patches... I had no idea what it was for and had to ask Rich about it when I sat back down.

It was a fun evening and the cub scout leaders did a great job setting it up and making it a fun time for everyone.

I was pleased that my "experiment" turned out well. I made augratin potato's, but I did a double batch and put them in my crockpot instead of the single batch in the oven that I normally do. They turned out pretty good and people seemed to like them.

I think I'm going to start putting some recipe's on here, somewhere on the blog... I just have to figure out how I'm going to format them... so when I do I'll put that one on first. Shanna I told you I'd figure out a way to get it to you easily! :)

Today I've got a huge mess in the kitchen to clean up from yesterday, so I need to go and tackle that. My dad should be stopping by either tonight or tomorrow night on his drive from Tennessee back to Utah- so it would probably be good if the house wasn't completely messy. lol! :)
