DisneyWorld 2007 trip

Tuesday, October 23, 2007:

That morning we got up, got ready for the day, finished packing, and loaded up our car with our suitcases. We went and got breakfast at the “cafeteria” area at the hotel, and then headed to the airport. Alex and Ashley had a royal fight to begin the morning in the car… and then got distracted by different things and the rest of the ride was a lot calmer. At the airport the kids acted like old pro’s and knew what to do to get through security. We had about 30-40 minutes to wait when we got to the airport, and there was a great little kid play area that I took Angela to. The other kids sat and played on their gameboys with Rich while they were waiting.

The first flight went smoothly. Alyssa and Angela behaved well and we had fun. I didn’t take Angela’s carseat on the plane this time and it was much easier to keep her happy with more space and flexibility for her and Alyssa to switch seats and stuff- she fell sleep and took a nap for the last hour of the flight. The second flight was more difficult for Angela, because by then she really didn’t want to sit still on the plane. It was far easier than the second flight on the way out though- because I did have more room to give her to move around a bit… but she still wasn’t too happy to have to sit still for takeoff and landing. I wound up holding her in my lap for landing because she would not cooperate and sit in her seat. After that we decided that when we do fly- at least for the next few years we will really try to get direct flights so we only have one flight to try and keep her contained on… two is just too long for her.

The kids were very pleased to see our car at the airport, and the DVD player that is in it for the drive home from the airport. My kids are just electronic kids and long drives are so much easier with a DVD available for them to watch… Alyssa and Angela both fell asleep on the drive home and I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get them to go back to sleep at a decent time when we got home, but luckily they were so tired from the long day that they went to bed at a decent hour that night.

The next morning… the kids missed the bus to school, but we were able to get them there before school started… it was a busy day- and most of the days in the past two weeks have been busy as well… I might get a chance to catch the blog up on those days… eventually. :-)

Sounds like it was a really great trip, Julie :) I hope I get to do it with my kids sometime too!
