Last night we had a fun kind of spontaneous FHE...
Alex is trying to catch up on his cub scout goals that his previous den leader wasn't very good about getting him to do (that would be ME!). So his current den leader is a lot better at this than I was (Rich) and Alex needed to plan an outdoor meal. Originally we planned that we would just do it in the backyard and have a picnic, but yesterday Rich woke up early to go running before work and it was raining, so he went to work early and came home. He got home and was getting ready to go run at a local park and asked if I just wanted to come and meet him at the end of his run and we would have the picnic there... then we decided that instead of trying to meet up there, we would just load the car up with the kids bikes, and stuff to make our dinner (hamburgers and hotdogs and the George Forman counter grill to cook it on) and the kids could play while I cooked them and Rich went for a run.
So we did... and we went to a new pavilion at the park that we haven't been to before and had a great time! It even started raining right as we sat down to eat and a few others that were walking by us thought it was so funny that I had brought the george forman grill to cook on, but it was a lot faster to cook on and clean up than charcoal would have been!
The kids rode their bikes, ran around and played tag, and then played on the playground with Mom and Dad afterwards... it was a great FHE... and we had icecream at home after we got home. :)
