Busy as a Bee

We've been busy here with stuff in the past few days. Saturday along with all the other Saturday things we do, Rich went and bought me a freezer and brought it home so now I've got a freezer in the garage to fill up with yummy foods. :)

Yesterday was Memorial Day and it was a good day. That morning the kids were willing to help me clean the bathrooms and I put them to work. While I was upstairs cleaning that bathroom, Alyssa managed to find some hair scissors and chop off a chunk of her hair. :( it's the hair right in front beside her face and she cut off about 4-5 inches. Now instead of being at her collarbone length, it's between her chin and ear. The good thing is that she has so much curl in her hair, and the rest is still nice and long that it really blends in. You don't notice the chunk of shorter hair unless you are playing with her hair, or looking really closely. I'm undecided whether I'll just leave it be and slowly cut an inch at a time off the longer hair untill that section catches up in length, or if I should just give her a shorter hair cut to even it out sooner.

Later in the day Ashley and I went and got haircuts. Ashley has been wanting bangs for months and so I got my hair cut, and she got some bangs cut and a trim. I should have taken some pictures of her before the cut. The bangs look really cute on her- even if I was hesitant to let her get them. :)

Then we had a family come over for dinner and the evening. The kids had a great time playing with their kids and Rich and I had fun just socializing with them. It's something we need to do more often- get out and socialize with other adults together. :)

Then I stayed up till midnight working on the dresses for my girls and niece for my sister's wedding. I hope they turn out fine and are fine for wearing anytime- not just for a wedding...

Here's a picture of the front part.

Today I got up and sent the kids off to school, and then made a batch of bread. A friend came over and used my wheat grinder to grind up some wheat and then we went to a scrapbooking day at another friends house. I got a bunch of scrapbook pages done. :)

Both Alyssa and Angela fell asleep on the way home, so now I have a brief moment or two of quiet before they wake up and the big kids come home. We'll be going to Incredible Pizza tonight for dinner and some fun- Alex got two certificates from school for an adult and child to go for free, so we can't pass up the opportunity to take the whole family for the price of one child admission that we'll have left to pay. :)

Oh... my quiet time is over... Angela's up. :)

Allergies- AGGHHH!

So this year has been horrible for allergies. I've been taking claritin and once I got it into my system it seemed to do a good job taking care of them. I forgot to take it last night and didn't remember until this morning, and I am in so much sinus pain today. :(

I did get most of the fabric cut out for the four dresses I'm making for my sisters wedding. I lost track of time and was up till after midnight getting it cut out. Rich found an XBox 360 on Ebay that was used for a really good deal so he was up late last night getting that set up and came down to our room a little after midnight and I decided to go ahead and go to sleep instead of finishing the cutting out. I was going to cut out the rest today, and starting some sewing tonight, but with this sinus pressure that is going to have to wait.

The kids were up at 5am this morning, so I'm hoping I can get a good naptime from Alyssa and Angela. If so I might lay down and take a nap too. :) Something that is so uncommon for me that it really is a luxury occurance. lol!

Where oh where can it be??

Agh!! I have a cutting mat to use with a rotary cutter for material. It's fairly large so finding a place to keep it has always been difficult. I've left it behind dressers and bookshelves, under beds... anyway it doesn't have a specific place that I keep it because the kids always find it and try to play with it.

I need it now for a project and I can't find it... anywhere... I'm lost as to where to look next. I guess I'll just have to go back to the scissors method and cut out my fabric with good ole fashioned fabric scissors...

At least my closet (where I have my sewing stuff set up) got all cleaned this morning while I was looking for it...

Only one and a half more weeks...

Until School is out... time to relax you say???

Sigh....

The first week School is out Rich will be out of town. Alex also has cub scout day camp every day that week from 7:30am till 3:30pm. Now that I'm a cup scout den leader that means I get the "privledge" of going to the Day Camp a few times during the week. I also have the girls signed up for swimming lessons Mon-Thurs of that week at 10:45 and 11:30, so I'll have to figure out how that will work out.

Then Rich will be home for four days and then we'll leave on our vacation. It will be a fun, but busy vacation. My sister is getting married down in St. George that Saturday, and then we'll go up to Midway for a family Reunion with Rich's family and go to sights around Utah Valley and the Salt Lake Valley from Saturday evening till Wed afternoon. Then we'll have a couple of days at my parents house and visiting old friends and my sister will have a reception that Saturday night, and then we'll drive home on Sunday. I'll probably need a vacation after that vacation.

Now when I type this out and go through it like this to Rich- he worries that I'm stressing about it and getting anxiety over it and tells me to stress and to relax about it.

I'm not stressing though. Somehow it helps my mind to just play out the schedule so I can get it all straight in my mind and then I don't have to stress at the last minute about what I need to pack and stuff...

So that's what I'm working on now- oh and I'm making dresses for the nieces for the wedding... here's a picture of the fabric I'm using and the dress I'll be making. The floral fabric will just be used for the top of the dress, and the pink will be used for the rest. I'm not sure if I'll use the ribbon as it's full width, or fold it in half so it isn't as wide.

Wow... how can it be over a week since I posted?

I swear... life goes by way to fast!

We haven't had any huge earth shattering things going on here lately. Alyssa took a tumble Tuesday evening and had a bleeding cut on her forehead. For a short while we thought we might have to run her into the ER to get it stitched up, but then we got the bleeding stopped and were able to use butterfly bandages and get the cut closed up fine. I would put up pictures, but she did not want any pictures taken of her head so I don't have any.

I've been back to exercising at the Y, Mon, wed, and Fri. I took a week off because of some leg pain, but it went away with the help of some muscle relaxers after a couple of days and hasn't returned. I'll wait a little longer before I try running again. I'm hoping eventually I'll see some results weight and inch wise from this exercise. I am getting stronger, and the exercise is really good for my mental and physical health, but it would be nice if I could actually loose some of this extra weight too... I know... eat healthier... I'm doing a little bit better and changing things a little bit at a time. :)

Angela has now entered the age of door opening. She has figured out how to open doors making me quite busy following her around the house and keeping her out of stuff. I had been able to keep her out of rooms by just closing the door, but now we have to lock it if we really don't want her in certain rooms.

oh! Alyssa was able to get on the list for pre-k next year at the school the kids are going to this year. That means next year she will be there, and the big kids will be at the new elementary school, but the new school isn't having pre-k classes so this is our only option if we want to have her go.

Well the big kids will be home soon... so I'd better get ready to give them my full attention. :)

Scrapbooking

I am NOT a creative person... scrapbooking is something I have never really had much desire to get into, but I've always had friends that really get into it and enjoy it.

Today there was a scrapbooking time at my friends house and I decided to just go ahead and participate and bring something to work on instead of just watching what they did. :)

Here's what I accomplished. I used the brochures we picked up at each National Park/Landmark for the border stuff and the maps... then my pictures on top. This was a trip we took in 2002 so the kids are Alex and Ashley when they were 4 and 2 years old.
